If you run a golf club, now may be a very exciting time. Although the end of a sunny summer is nearing, after months of great playing conditions for your members, your clubhouse will soon be packed as they gather to watch the Ryder Cup, taking place in upstate New York next month.
Of course, this biennial tournament will not be the only time when large numbers of people gather on your premises.
While on the one hand, you will have regular foot traffic from players walking into and around the clubhouse after a round, the place may also be regularly packed with people attending non-sporting events like wedding receptions or birthday parties.
This being the case, your choice of carpeting needs to reflect the fact that it will have a variety of users and face a lot of wear and tear. That raises the question of what the best carpet might be.
Finding Value And Quality
Some might go for a fancy wool-woven carpet that looks great and for those with a high budget, that may be a good option. But if your golf club is a long way from being the Royal and Ancient, what you will need is practical and hard-wearing. We have many carpet tile flooring products that fit the bill.
Among the attributes such carpets need are good wear classifications and acoustic reduction. The first enables the carpet to last and the second prevents the place from getting too noisy, either for the comfort of the ears of those inside, or for those living near the clubhouse.
Tee Off With Amtico And Balsan
For this reason, a good option to start with is the Amtico Express Colour Anchor Tinker carpet. It has a wear classification of 23,33, an intensive use castor chair rating (which is important if you host many seated events), 25 dB of acoustic impact noise reduction and a ten-year warranty.
Coming in tiles of 609.6 x 609.6 mm, this nylon carpet has a patterned loop design and is 6.4 mm thick. It is exactly the kind of hard-wearing carpet that suits a busy clubhouse.
Another maker whose products can be very useful in this setting is Balsan. We stock various carpet tile and plank products from this maker, which are mostly comprised of entirely recycled nylon.
A good example of this is the Urbanist carpet tiles, which measure 500 x 500 mm. These tiles have a Class 33 LC1 wear classification and 23 dB of noise reduction, with the printed loop pile carpets being 5.4 mm thick. The warranty is five years.
These tiles come in a choice of attractive patterns in various colours, which is a feature of Balsan carpets. Indeed, for some really bright colours and comfort underfoot, you could try the Balsan 3D Tramontane Carpet Tiles.
These tiles, again measuring 500 x 500 mm, come in 6.5 mm thick patterned loop tile, with a choice of colours including red, yellow, blue and green. The product has a wear classification of 33, 26 dB of acoustic impact noise reduction and a warranty of 15 years.
Birdies And Burmatex
Another maker to consider is Burmatex. They make tufted loop pile carpets that are suited to heavy-wear environments. For example, the 7 mm thick Balance Grid Carpet Tile comes in a wide range of attractive shades, including various greens, reds, blues and yellows, with exotic names like dark shadow (green), block blue, district red and apricot beam (orange).
It is not just the novel names that make these attractive; however, these tiles come with a
Class 33 heavy commercial use (BS EN 1307) wear rating, an LC2 luxury class, a continuous castor chair rating, 23 dB of acoustic impact noise reduction and a 15-year warranty.
The Burmatex Balance Ratio Carpet Tiles offer the same wear rating, luxury class and noise reduction, as well as the same colours but with a slightly different pattern.
A Carpet That Stands The Test Of Time
Finding attractive colours is, of course, all part of ensuring your clubhouse is looking the part. It is very important to have a practical carpet that can stand the test of time, keep the noise down and handle the extensive use of chairs and tables being placed on it.
But the range of different products we offer means that you can choose colourful items as well as practical ones.
When the Ryder Cup comes around, the carpets might not be the first thing anyone notices, as all eyes will be fixed on the TV screens and the coverage from Farmingdale.
But over the course of this year and several to come, the new carpet tiles you buy this year will add plenty of quality to the appearance of your clubhouse.
