It may come as a surprise to some to discover that the 2024-25 football season has only just ended, with the FIFA World Club Cup delivering another trophy for Chelsea fans to celebrate.
However, in just a few weeks, they will all be at it again as the new season commences next month. The first Premier League fixture will take place on Friday, August 15th.
That means high hopes, new kits, and fresh signings. But it also means a lot of familiar routines being resumed, not least for those who enjoy a pint or two before or after the game.
Any pub with a TV might have people coming in to watch the game, often many miles from the nearest stadium. But others may stand very close to venues and, after a quieter time over the summer, could soon be crowded with fans on match days.
A Busy Season In Store For Pub Carpets
That means the carpets underfoot will soon be in for nine months of heavy duty, from high levels of footfall as hundreds of fans pour into the watering hole to inevitable food and drink spillages.
Thankfully, the kind of hooliganism that might see a pub redesigned by visiting ‘fans’ is largely a thing of the past, but there may be the odd incident too, adding to spillages, even if it is beer rather than blood.
Having undergone this sort of wear and tear last season, it may be asked whether the carpets need renewing. Some pubs will have already done so. Others might think they can just about survive a new season. But if you are unsure, it is better to replace them now than try to get the work rushed through in mid-season when games are coming thick and fast.
Carpets To Cope With The Crowds
If you are looking for carpets, we have some great carpet tile options designed for the hard-wearing and resilient needs of the hospitality sector, where high levels of footfall, the risk of mess and the need to have an attractive space that people enjoy coming to all need to be met.
Among the carpet providers who could offer your establishment just the solution it needs is Amtico. The Express Colour Anchor Tinker tiles, which measure 609 x 609 mm, are 6.4 mm thick and come with a 23,33 wear classification, as well as 25 dB of acoustic noise reduction and a ten-year warranty, all of which makes it very well suited to a pub full of noisy fans.
Balsan is another provider that makes highly hard-wearing carpet tiles. The Pilote 3D Tramontane Carpet Tiles do not just come with 6.5 mm of thickness, a noise reduction of 26 dB and a 15-year warranty, but also a choice of many different attractive colour patterns.
A Colour Scheme For Every Team
Whether it is red for one half of Merseyside, blue for the other side, yellow for Watford or even green for Plymouth Argyle, there will be a colour to suit your floor. You could even mix and match for teams in multiple colours, such as having yellow and green for Norwich City or red and blue for Crystal Palace.
Another Balsan option is the ultrasoft Dalle Carpet tiles. Like the Tramontane, these measure 500 x 500 mm, but they are thicker at 8.3 mm and have a 23/32 wear classification as well as 23 dB noise reduction.
While the colours in the Tramontane range are mottled, these are bolder, which may be a more popular choice if you like the colour scheme to overtly reflect those of the nearby club.
Because this carpet is softer and has a shorter warranty of five years, this may be best suited to areas with lower levels of footfall, such as places where people sit and eat.
On The Ball With Great Balance
Burmatex also offers some very suitable carpet tiles. For instance, the Balance Ratio tiles, which measure 500 x 500 mm, are 7mm thick, have a Class 33 heavy commercial use wear rating, acoustic noise reduction of 23 dB and a warranty of 15 years.
On top of all that, this product is also available in a wide choice of colours, with vibrant red and reflection blue having plenty of takers (and not just after the reds put in a vibrant display and the blues fans are left being very reflective), as well as Aqua Vapour, a light blue suitable for pubs near clubs in Manchester and Coventry.
Having such products in tile form can be especially useful, as any single tile that suffers bad damage can be replaced with a spare from the box.
By being prepared now, you can be sure of having carpets that will perform well throughout the season, something the fans may not be so confident about the local team managing to do.
